====== Setup A DSS / BLF - Speed Dial Key ======
The Yealink T4x series has a number of buttons that can be programmed to do a large number of actions. The most common ones are to setup a Busy Lamp Field (BLF) or speed dial. 

===== BLF vs Speed Dial =====

A BLF should be used if you are setting it up for an internal extension. A BLF key functions as both a speed dial and a status indicator. You can press the key to call that extension or transfer a call to them, but [[what_do_the_yealink_button_colors_mean|the colors will also change]] depending on their status so you can know if they are on the phone or not before calling them.

A speed dial should be used for setting up a button to call to an outside number. This can be to a cell phone or any other third party phone where the status of the caller can't be monitored. 

===== Setup a BLF =====
  - Press and hold the button you want to setup until the configuration menu displays. \\ \\ {{:images:t46-blf1.png?300|}} \\ \\
  - Configure the following options <WRAP 30%>
^ Type:        | BLF                           |
^ Account ID:  | Line 1                        |
^ Label:       | Label                         |
^ Value:       | Extension you want to assign  |
^ Extension:   | **Leave blank**. See below for advanced options.              |

==== Call Intercept with BLF ====
Rather than leaving the Extension blank, you can use a special star code to enable call intercept. Call intercept allows you to use the same BLF key to retrieve a call that is ringing on that person's phone. The star code is different depending on if your company uses 3-digit extensions or 4-digit extensions. Enter the correct star code in the "extension" field above.
